Open Door Theatre brings together ensemble of television and theater actors from Oak Park and other
award-winning Oak Park artists to present Craig Wright’s thoughtful, lyrical play. Jeff-Award winning director Jason Gerace leads a team of experienced Chicago actors Rebekah Ward, Kyle A. Gibson, and Hannah Toriumi and some of Chicago’s best and most creative designers: Charles Cooper (Lighting) Joanna Iwanicka (Set), Rachel Sypniewski (Costumes), Ashley Petit (Sound).
Seeing each other for the first time in twenty years at their high school reunion, the former sweethearts face each other, the incident that drove them apart, and their own lives as they navigate interactions with other characters, all masterfully played by The Narrator. “It’s a play about time. How we choose to use and spend and give our time in our lives. It’s a powerful reminder of our responsibility to live every moment we are given as we have it.” says director Jason Gerace. He goes on, “Even after looking forward to working on this play for over a decade and reading it dozens of times I am still swept up in it each time I go through it. We have a very special group of actors and designers who have come together on this show and I am thrilled to be sharing it with Oak Park and Chicago audiences.”
