Huggable Riot is excited to announce the opening of its 25h original revue, The Coal Kids, which begins four-week run on Friday, December 6th at 10:00pm at The Blackout Cabaret at the Second City Chicago.
In this one act sketch show, the writer/performers of The Coal Kids take swings at holiday traditions and poke fun at the absurdities that we all choose to continue every year. Things go off the rails quickly, moving from a "Home for the Holidays" escape room, to Nazareth, to the much needed HR meeting after the company holiday party.
The Coal Kids is the final show of the group’s first year performing at Studio Theaters at The Second City. It is the 25th original revue produced over the last 5 years and the 5th annual holiday themed revue.
“This show is a big undertaking for us,” says director and Huggable Riot co-founder Amy Anderson. “The Coal Kids is an ambitious show. We are incorporating video into our live performance, as well as some more complicated sight gags and movement. It’s a really interesting, polished, fun show!”
The Coal Kids is written by and stars Riot members Ryan Alkire, Keiter Liriano, Sarah-Jean Peters, Roxi Pope, Colin Stanley, Tori Wynn with musical direction by John Love. It is directed by Hunter Larrison and head written by Amy Anderson. The show runs every for 4 weeks every Friday at 10 pm beginning December 6th at The Blackout Cabaret located at 230 W. North Avenue, just east of the Sedgwick Brown and Red Line stops. The show is approximately 50 minutes and costs $13 for general admission, $11 with a college i.d., and $7 with a Second City student i.d. Tickets are available online (www.secondcity.com). Please inquire about press comps.
