Chicago, IL – Pride Films & Plays and Buzz On Stage are excited to announce Gerard Salvador, from the cast of Hazel, will be hosting NOMINEE NIGHT at Sidetrack on Tuesday, May 17 at 8pm, a benefit for Pride Films & Plays.
Gerard Salvador is currently performing at the Drury Lane Theatre in their World Premiere production of the new musical Hazel, based on the comic strip by Ted Key and Emmy winning 60s sitcom starring Shirley Booth. He recently completed a 13 year run in the Broadway musical Mamma Mia! He attended LaGuardia HS of Music & Art and Performing Arts where he studied classical music, while working in New York's music, film and television industry. He has worked extensively around the country in regional theatre. Favorites include The King & I, The Music Man, Fame, as well as the American Premiere of the musical Honk! As an accomplished cabaret artist, Gerard has performed in several night club venues in New York and Chicago in solo shows as well as hosting and producing a successful series of benefits for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a cause close to his heart. Gerard has also appeared in many of their productions of Broadway Bares, Easter Bonnet and Gypsy of the Year.
Mr. Salvador will be the NOMINEE NIGHT’s host and emcee, presenting the musical from the Best Actors and Actresses, and Best Supporting Actors and Actresses nominated for the 2015/16 Non-Equity Joseph Jefferson (“Jeff”) Awards.
All proceeds from the evening benefit the New Musical Initiative at Pride Films and Plays, including the upcoming free workshop of Adam Mathias and Jonathan Monro’s A History of Summer, the story of Fire Island, at Theatre Wit on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 28 and 29, 2016.
NOMINEE NIGHT is on Tuesday, May 17 at 8pm at Sidetrack Video Bar, 3349 N Halsted, Chicago.
Doors open at 6:30PM, with a musical program from 7:00PM to 8:30PM. General Admission tickets are $20. VIP tickets are available for $30 and include reserved seating and program recognition (if purchased by May 12). Tickets can be purchased online at www.BuzzOnStage.com/nominee-night.
